Instead of Rachakonda, Future City and Malkajgiri have been created as new commissionerates.
Hyderabad Dec 29 (Shoukat-PMI) The Telangana government has announced a major reorganisation of the city’s police administration, creating two new police commissionerates — Future City and Malkajgiri — in line with the recent expansion of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
With the restructuring, the existing three commissionerates — Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda — have been reorganised into four commissionerates. The former Rachakonda Police Commissionerate has been bifurcated to form the new Future City and Malkajgiri units.
According to an official press release issued on Monday night, key areas including the State Assembly, Secretariat, Begumpet, Shamshabad Airport and Budvel High Court have been placed under the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate.
The move follows the state government’s decision to merge 27 urban local bodies into the GHMC, expanding its area from 625 sq km to over 2,000 sq km. As part of this expansion, municipalities within the Outer Ring Road have been integrated to create the Core Urban Region (CURE). The expanded GHMC has been reorganised into 12 zones, 60 circles and 300 wards.
The government said the police restructuring is aimed at improving public service delivery, law and order management and crime control across the rapidly growing metropolitan region.
Under the revised jurisdiction, the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate will cover major IT and industrial areas, including Gachibowli, Financial District, Nanakramguda, Madhapur, Raidurg, Patancheru, Genome Valley, RC Puram, and Ameenpur, along with Keesara, Shamirpet, Quthbullapur, and Kompally.
Bhongir, which was earlier under Rachakonda, has been made a separate police unit, and a Superintendent of Police has been appointed for the Yadadri Bhongir district.
The newly created Future City Police Commissionerate will include areas such as Chevella, Moinabad, Shankarpally, Maheshwaram, and Ibrahimpatnam.
As per government orders dated December 29, Sudheer Babu, former Rachakonda Police Commissioner, has been appointed as Future City Police Commissioner, while Avinash Mohanty, former Cyberabad Police Commissioner, has been posted as Malkajgiri Police Commissioner. Inspector General of Police M Ramesh has been appointed as the new Cyberabad Police Commissioner. Akshansh Yadav, earlier Deputy Commissioner of Police for Yadadri Bhongir, has been appointed as SP of Yadadri Bhongir district. (pressmediaofindia.com)
