Hyderabad-Dec 20 (PMI) Ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays starting from December 24, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone), Sri Kiran Khare, IPS, has issued an advisory urging residents to take precautionary steps to prevent house thefts, as many families are expected to travel out of station during the festive period.
The DCP advised the public to ensure that all doors, windows, and grills are properly locked before leaving their houses. Citizens were also cautioned against leaving valuables or large sums of cash at home unnecessarily. He emphasized the importance of informing trustworthy neighbours, relatives, or friends about their absence so that vacant houses can be kept under watch.
Warning against oversharing on social media, the police advised people not to disclose travel plans or holiday details online, as such information could be exploited by anti-social elements. Residents were further encouraged to ensure adequate lighting outside their homes at night and to install or activate CCTV cameras and alarm systems wherever available. Verification of tenants and domestic helpers was also advised, with information to be shared with local police stations if required.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad City Police has intensified security arrangements across the South Zone. Night patrolling, vehicle checking, and surveillance have been strengthened, with special focus on vacant houses, residential colonies, and vulnerable areas. Beat officers have been instructed to conduct regular inspections and interact with residents.
The DCP appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or dial 100, stressing that public cooperation is crucial to ensuring safety and security in the South Zone during the holiday season. (pressmediaofindia.com)
