Hyderabad Police Commissioner Shri VC Sajjanar Unveils Extended ‘Wings of Fire’ on Dr. Kalam’s Birth Anniversary

Hyderabad, October 15, 2025(PMI) The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Shri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, unveiled the new and extended edition of the iconic autobiography Wings of Fire during a heartfelt ceremony held at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, India’s revered scientist and former President.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. B. Somaraju, Founder of CARE Hospitals; Prof. Sandeep Shukla, Director of IIIT Hyderabad; Prof. Arun Tiwari, renowned missile scientist and author; Prof. Ramesh Loganathan; and Dr. Krishna Yedula, along with faculty, students, and staff of IIIT Hyderabad.

In his address, Shri. Sajjanar paid tribute to Dr. Kalam, celebrating his extraordinary journey from Rameswaram to becoming India’s “Missile Man” and “People’s President.” He lauded Dr. Kalam’s ability to inspire generations through his resilience, innovation, and pursuit of excellence, highlighting his visionary leadership in advancing India’s space and defense programs.

Reflecting on his tenure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commissioner shared insights into the collaborative spirit that helped navigate the crisis, crediting technology companies, volunteers, officers, and citizens for their contributions. He also announced the forthcoming book The Extra Mile by Prof. Arun Tiwari and Dr. Krishna Yedula, which chronicles the collective efforts and human stories from the pandemic.

Describing Dr. Kalam as a “builder of dreams,” Shri Sajjanar urged young Indians to draw inspiration from Wings of Fire, calling it a timeless guide for aspiring minds. “It is one of my favorite books,” he remarked, emphasizing how Dr. Kalam’s life continues to ignite passion and purpose among India’s youth.

He concluded with a powerful message: “No dream is too distant, no challenge too big when vision meets action.”
