Hyderabad Jan 13 (PMI)Hyderabad police arrested one person for illegally procuring and selling banned nylon-coated Chinese Manja used for kite flying and seized 345 bobbins worth ₹6.9 lakh. The arrest was made by the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone, based on credible information.
The accused has been identified as Mohd. Shazaib (42), a kite businessman and resident of Vatapally, Hyderabad. He was apprehended at Sadhu Kite Shop near Deccan Bakery in the Kalapathar area, under the limits of Kalapather Police Station, while allegedly selling the banned material.
According to MD Iqbal Siddique Addl . Deputy Commisinor of Ppolice Task Force,., the accused procured the illegal Chinese Manja through an associate, Vikram Mehta, a native of Karnal in Haryana, who transported the banned material to Hyderabad. Shazaib was reportedly selling the Manja at ₹2,000 per bobbin to earn illegal profits.
Police seized 345 bobbins of Monofil Gold synthetic nylon-coated Chinese Manja from the accused. The Telangana government has banned the manufacture, storage, sale, and use of Chinese Manja since January 2016 under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, to protect birds and prevent fatal accidents involving humans.
Officials said that violation of the ban attracts imprisonment of up to five years, a fine of up to ₹1 lakh, or both. The accused along with the seized material has been handed over to the Station House Officer of Kalapather Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Inspector of Police Ch. Yadender of West Zone Task Force, and G. Sandeep Reddy, SIP, West Zone Task Force, and their staffs.(pressmediaofindia,com)
