Hyderabad Cyber Crimes Police Arrest Main Accused in ₹25 Lakh Matrimonial Fraud Case

Hyderabad, Sept. 12 (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI) The Cyber Crimes police of Hyderabad City have busted a matrimonial fraud racket and arrested three persons, while one accused remains absconding. The accused cheated a victim of ₹25 lakh by luring him with a fake matrimonial proposal through social media.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aneesa Mohmadyaseen Hundekar (33) of Bijapur, Karnataka, and Mohammed Abdul Aamer (31) of Hyderabad. Another accused, Zohar Fathima (24) of Bijapur, is absconding.

Police said the complainant, an unmarried man, came across the Instagram account “khoobsurat.rishte” in March 2023 and contacted the number given. A woman posing as a prospective bride befriended him, even making video calls, and gradually collected money under pretexts such as health emergencies and domestic needs. Trusting her, the victim transferred a total of ₹25 lakh. Later, he discovered that the photos used on the account actually belonged to a Pakistani influencer.

During the investigation, police found that the accused had created fake profiles using edited photographs and videos to attract victims through WhatsApp groups and Instagram. Once the victims showed interest, they initiated video calls and later demanded money. The accused used multiple bank accounts to receive the funds.

The police seized two mobile phones, a tablet, a laptop, five bank passbooks, three cheque books, and three debit cards used in the fraud. The case was cracked by a team led by

 Sri K. Prasada Rao, Inspector of Police, consisting of team members Smt A.Uma, SI of Police, HC PV Srinivas, PC Fouziya Begum, S. Srinivasa Reddy, H.Shekar, J.Venkatesh, under the supervision of Sri R.G Siva Maruthi, ACP, Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad, has detected the case.

Police have urged citizens to exercise caution while interacting with strangers online and not to transfer money on the basis of emotional manipulation or marriage promises. Victims of cyber fraud are advised to dial 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in.(pressmediaofindia.com)
