Shaik Hussain Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Double Murder Case

Hyderabad’Feb 27 (PMI): In a significant judgment, the VII Additional Sessions Judge, Nampally, has convicted an accused in a decade-old sensational double murder case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

The case dates back to June 4, 2015, when personnel from Humayun Nagar Police Station, during a night patrol at Mallepally, noticed a fire in an under-construction apartment building. On entering the premises, they found Sultana Begum with severe burn injuries. Before succumbing to her injuries, she reportedly alleged harassment by Shaik Hussain and suspected his involvement in setting the premises on fire. Her husband, Kurmaiah, also sustained fatal injuries in the incident.

Following a detailed investigation and trial in Sessions Case No. 220/2016 (Crime No. 153/2015) under Section 302 of the IPC, the Hon’ble Judge Sri B. Sujay pronounced the accused guilty. On February 27, 2026, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,000, with a default sentence of one month’s simple imprisonment.

The investigation was led by Sri S. Ravinder, then Inspector of Humayun Nagar Police Station, presently serving as ACP, EOW, Cyberabad. The prosecution was conducted by Sri A. Phani Kumar, Additional Public Prosecutor Grade-I. Police officials, including CDO S. Mallesh Naik and Process Duty G. Raju, played a crucial role in securing the conviction.

Senior officers of the South-West Zone, Hyderabad, closely supervised the investigation and trial proceedings. The dedicated team was commended and suitably rewarded for their efforts.
