Hyderabad:June 28′(PMI) The Hyderabad City Police and the Telangana State Police have continued to remain on top among other police forces in the country when it comes to quick verification of passport applications.
In an audio message posted on social media, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said the half-yearly review by the Ministry of External Affairs had rated the Telangana State Police and the Hyderabad City Police as the best units in the country for passport verification. The City Police had cleared 48,295 applications till June 26 with an average speed of four days for each application, he said, adding that this was the best performance by any city in the country.
“The Passport Verification Cell of the Special Branch braved the Covid19 pandemic and discharged its duty,” Anjani Kumar said, lauding the teamwork.
The Special Branch of the City Police has an exclusive passport verification cell. The task of the policemen posted in the cell is to conduct only passport verification at the doorstep of the applicant and to furnish the report to the authorities. Last year, the City Police had cleared 92,767 applications.(PMI)
