House Burglar Arrested by OU Police, 14.5 Tulas of Gold Recovered

Hyderabad, October 7(Shoukat-PMI) The Osmania University Police under the Hyderabad Commissionerate arrested a house burglary offender and successfully recovered gold ornaments weighing approximately 14.5 tulas, stolen during a recent house break-in.

The accused, identified as Marneni Bala Dheeraj (30), a physiotherapist by profession, was nabbed on October 6, 2025, from Tarnaka by the OU Police team in connection with Crime No. 426/2025 registered under Section 331(4), 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to police, the burglary took place at a residence in Street No.1, Tarnaka, where the complainant and his family had gone to the airport on September 27 to see off their son and daughter-in-law. Upon returning around midnight, the family discovered the theft early next morning when the complainant found the son’s bedroom ransacked and a locker containing gold ornaments and cash missing.

The stolen property included:

  • 4 Bracelets (6 tulas)

  • 6 Ear Rings (2.5 tulas)

  • 2 Diamond Ear Rings (2 tulas)

  • 4 Mangalsutras (4 tulas)

  • Cash amounting to ₹10,000

Following investigation and technical surveillance, police traced and arrested Dheeraj. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime and led police to the stolen ornaments, which were recovered intact.

Dheeraj, a resident of Karthikeya Nagar, Nacharam, originally hails from Warangal. He has a criminal history and was previously involved in an attempted theft case in 2013 at Thapachabutra Police Station.

The arrest was carried out by Detective Inspector S. Ravi Kumar and his team, under the leadership and supervision of Sri B. Balaswamy, IPS (DCP East Zone), Sri J. Narsaiah (Addl. DCP East), and Sri G. Jagan (ACP, Osmania University Division). The operation was coordinated by Inspector M. Appala Naidu.
