Hyderabad, Dec 14 (PMI) The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), in coordination with Masab Tank Police, arrested three persons, including a local MDMA peddler and two sub-peddlers, and seized narcotic drugs and property worth ₹4.65 lakh.
Acting on credible information, the joint team conducted an operation on December 12, 2025, and apprehended Upputuri Kartheek alias Alex (37), a resident of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, along with Chirumamilla Balaji (32) of Neredmet and Tandra Deepak (29) of Jeedimetla. Police recovered 11 grams of MDMA, three mobile phones, a two-wheeler bearing registration number TS08JH1844 and a four-wheeler bearing registration number TS09FB5191 from their possession.
Police said Kartheek, who was facing financial difficulties after failed business ventures, allegedly procured MDMA from absconding suppliers in Bengaluru and sold it in Hyderabad after repacking it into one-gram sachets. Balaji, who was earlier involved in an NDPS case, purchased the drug from Kartheek and resold it to consumers. Deepak, initially a consumer, later became a sub-peddler and supplied MDMA to known customers for profit.
A case has been registered as Crime No. 317/2025 under Sections 8(c), 22(c) and 27(a) of the NDPS Act, read with Section 3(5) of the BNS at Masab Tank Police Station.
