Hyderabad, The High Court today took up the case of expelled
Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar on Friday.
Congress MLAs’ advocate Ravishankar Jandhyala argued why Council Chairman K Swamy Goud visited Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital though he was good for 17 minutes after Governor ESL Narasimhan’s address to the joint session. He told the Court that the Assembly started on March 13 and on March 12, the Governor delivered his address. He said there was no attack on the day the Governor addressed the joint session. Expulsion of Congress MLAs from membership was anti-constitutional and it was with political motives.
“We have doubts on the entire episode and are seeking CC footage in this regard”, he said. He also alleged that 
Alampur MLA SA Sampath Kumar was not in the video, but Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary expelled him from the House. The Speaker expelled the members unilaterally and it was against the Constitution”, the petitioners’ counsel argued. The Court asked the Advocate General to submit the CC Footage sought by the petitioners’ advocate. Advocate General Prakash Reddy sought time till Monday to submit the video footage. Then the High Court adjourned the case to Monday.
Meanwhile, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy applied under RTI Act seeking CC footage of the Legislative Assembly proceedings on March 12 from the Legislature Secretary. It may be mentioned here that Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary expelled two Congress MLAs–Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar, alleging that the Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud received eye injury in the attack by the Congress MLAs. The Speaker also suspended the remaining Congress MLAs for the entire budget session. The Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Nethi Vidyasagar suspended five Congress MLCs for the entire session.
