Hyderabad, June 28 (PMI): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today sought the Centre to honour the former Prime Minister P.V Narasimha Rao with Bharat Rathna award in recognition of his services. The government conducted a concluding program of yearlong birth centenary celebrations of PV Narasimha Rao at PV Gnana Bhoomi. KCR and the Governor unveiled a 26 ft bronze statue of PV and released nine books at Necklace Road today.
KCR announced that the state government will set up a PV Peetham at Kakatiya University in Warangal.
PV Centenary Celebrations Committee Chairman and MP, K Keshava Rao, MLC Vani Devi, PV Rajeshwar Rao, Ministers Srinivas Yadav, Srinivas Goud, Mahamood Ali, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, and MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and officials were present.
The program is the culmination of the one year long grand conduct of PV Jayanthi centenary celebrations amid corona protocols. He said that Keshava Rao and other members and officials made the yearlong event of PV Narasimha Rao.
KCR said that PV donated his 800 acres land to the government for the poor and proved his commitment and determination for their cause. The current politicians must learn from PV who carved a niche for himself in Indian Politics. PV was an intellect who successfully ran the minority government for five years as the prime minister. He also said that Manmohan Singh as the prime minister praised PV several times for his plan and giving liberty to push for economic growth of the country. PV was a multi linguist who offered selfless services and we need to follow his ideals and implement schemes for future generations.
The Chief Minister praised PV as a great personality who is known for financial, land reforms and pushed the nation on the growth path. As a visionary and multi-faceted personality PV Narsimha Rao always tried his best for social cause and uplift of the poor KCR noted.
Heaping praises on PV, KCR has said that the Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution seeking the Centre to accord Bharat Ratna.
Tamilisai stated that she is fortunate to unveil the statue of PV Narsimha Rao. The Necklace Road was renamed as PV Marg and the necklace has ornamented the neck of Narsimha Rao she said. PV was a great leader we need to respect the governor said.
Keshava Rao spoke on the occasion and government advisor KV Ramanachary coordinated the centenary celebrations concluding day event at PV Gnana Bhumi. (PMI)
