Hyderabad, Aug.3 (PMI): The ruling TRS party leader Gutha Sukhender Reddy, whose name has been declared as party candidate for MLC post under MLA quota by Chief Minister K Chandashekhar Rao, is likely to be elected unopposed if the Opposition failed to field its candidate.
The Congress, in all probability, is likely to bow out of the fray as it does not have enough members to win the MLC post. If the Congress party decides to not contest the elections, Sukehnder Reddy will be elected unopposed to the post. It may be noted here that CM KCR has declared candidature of Sukhender Reddy in order to fulfil his promise made before the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Gutha wanted to contest as MP candidate of the party from Nalgonda. However, he was denied ticket by the CM. Instead, KCR promised Gutha to make him an MLC under the MLA quota. This has pacified the veteran politician. The MLC seat fell vacant after disqualification of former MLC K. Yadav Reddy from the seat after he switched over to the Opposition Congress party.
