Hyderabad : Finance Minister E Rajender today said that first GST meeting will be held in Hyderabad on Sept 9 and arrangements were made for smooth session.
Talking to news men here he said that Hyderabad is hosting the GST Council meeting for first time from 11 am to 5 pm. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will chair the meeting and ministers and officials of various other states will attend, Rajender said who is also the member of the GST Council.
He said that all the traders and businessmen have their wishlist before the Council on changes of tax regime. The state government will urge the council to cancel tax on public utilities schemes or put under the 5 per cent tax regime. Jaitley will listen to the appeals of the traders and businessmen on the occasion, Rajender said adding that all the states are seeking some changes in GST regime.
Telangana government asked the Centre to cancel the tax on ongoing public utility programs or put under 5 per cent tax slab and will ask again, he said. We have made better arrangements for the GST Council. Ministers T Harish Rao, Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari are coordinating the arrangements, he said. A dinner will be hosted to the council at Falaknuma Palace at night on behalf of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Rajender stated that the GST will burden Rs 9000 crore on the state government and hoped that the council meeting will take decisions not hampering our interests
