Hyderabad, May 4 (PMI): TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy today alleged that the state government was behaving in a unilateral manner in the issue of conducting COVID-19 tests. He said that the state government had not followed the advice of the opposition political parties on the issue. He alleged that the state government was acting in a negligent manner on the issue of ongoing lockdown , coronavirus prevention measures and problems faced by farmers of the state.
He made these remarks after submitting a representation to the governor of the state Tamilisai Soundararajan on the issue at Raj Bhavan in the city along with his party leaders. In his representation, he urged the governor to take steps for coming to the rescue of the farmers, who have incurred huge amount of losses due to the recent untimely rains. He also urged the governor to issue orders to the state government to take more steps to help the migrant workers of the state. He further urged the governor to take steps for helping those who have lost their employment due to the ongoing lockdown.
Addressing media persons later, he said that they had a lengthy discussions with the governor on failure of the state government to hold more number of coronavirus tests in the state. He asked the state government as to why it was not conducting the tests despite adequate capacity and infrastructure to conduct the tests. He alleged that the attitude of the state government was unscientific on the issue. He demanded the CM to reveal the details of the number of tests being conducted by his government as per ICMR guidelines . Making it clear that they want corona free Telangana state, he alleged that the state government was also hiding the deaths occurred due to the coronavirus. He also asked the state government as to why it gave orders to not hold the coronavirus tests on the dead people. He demanded the state government to give an ex-gratia to the family members of the coronavirus victims. He also demanded the state government to give ₹5,000 to all BPL families of the state. Stating that they had also shown the quality of the free rice being given to all food security card holders and migrant workers, he demanded the state government to give quality rice to the beneficiaries. Referring to the statement of union finance minister Nirmala Seetharaman that they would also give dal to the beneficiaries on March 26, he said that the tur dal was not yet provided to the beneficiaries. Referring to the migration of the migrant workers to their native places, he said that it would cause huge amount of loss to the state while noting that the state government didn’t have exact number of the migrant workers stranded in the state. Referring to procurement of food grains in the state, Reddy said that procurement of the paddy was stopped in the state due to the shortage of gunny bags.
Reddy announced that the party leaders would hold a day long protest program on Tuesday protesting against the failure of the state government in the procurement of the food grains and prevention of the corona virus in the state. He said that the party leaders would hold the protest program at all DCC Offices of the district and their residences.
He said that the chairman of COVID-19 task force of the party Marri Shashidhar Reddy would act as the coordinator of the program. (PMI)
