Hyderabad’24 Sept( Ali Abbas-PMI) In the backdrop of the Jainoor incident in Adilabad district, the State government has been conducting a series of meetings to restore harmony between the local tribal and minority communities.
Two days ago, Panchayat Raj Minister and Adilabad district In-charge Minister Seethakka and Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju Patel held discussions with tribal associations in Utnoor.
On Tuesday, a fresh meeting was held at the Secretariat with prominent leaders from the minority community. The meeting was chaired by Government Advisor Shabbir Ali, Minister Seethakka, MLA Vedma Bojju Patel, MLC Dande Vithal, and former union minister Venugopal Chary.
During the discussions, the minority leaders expressed their concerns and opinions. They pointed out that some political parties are trying to fuel tensions by giving a religious colour to personal disputes, and they requested the government to strengthen law enforcement to control these forces. They also urged strict action against groups that are inciting conflicts between the two communities, which have otherwise coexisted peacefully for many years.
The meeting, which lasted over three hours, saw the minority leaders articulating their viewpoints carefully, while the government representatives assured them of taking firm measures.
Minister Seethakka expressed regret over the rising tensions between the tribal and minority communities, which have lived in harmony since the Nizam era. She emphasized the need to identify the root causes of the issues and work towards resolving them.
The Minister also called upon the minority community to respect the special laws protecting the tribal people and condemned attempts by some groups to provoke anti-minority sentiments.
Awareness programs were suggested in places of worship to foster respect for tribal laws and women’s rights. The meeting also discussed the lack of employment opportunities in the agency and backward areas over the past decade, which is leading to discontent among the youth. The government representatives noted that some political forces are exploiting unemployment to fuel unrest and assured that these groups would face strict action.
The government warned that any protest should remain peaceful, and no one should take the law into their hands. Minister Seethakka stated that conflicts between communities or castes would hinder the region’s development. Therefore, she urged all communities to live in harmony.
Government Advisor Shabbir Ali also announced that a joint meeting would soon be organised between leaders of both communities to build trust and address misunderstandings.
He added that both sides would meet the Chief Minister shortly to further resolve issues.(Pressmediaofindia.com)
