Govt sanctions Rs 23.42 cr for 18 new lakes

Hyderabad, July 25 (PMI): The Government gave green signal to dig 18 new lakes in Adilabad, Nirmal and Komuram Bheem districts to irrigate 4539 acres on completion of the works. The Government also sanctioned Rs 23.42 cr towards stage one of works for digging the new lakes in the old Adilabad district. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has instructed the officials concerned to start land acquisition and replacement and rehabilitation works for the new lakes.

The completion of the lakes will help irrigate the lands in three districts and increase agriculture production. With this the promise of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made on Feb 27 last during his visit to the area is being kept by the government by planning to start the works of the new lakes. Earlier the government sanctioned Rs 92 cr for the new lakes on Nov 30 last year, followed by KCR’s promise. (PMI)
