Hyderabad, Oct.17 (PMI): Minister for R&B and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Telangana government’s top priority is to bring joy and financial stability to farmers by ensuring that payments for paddy procurement are credited directly to their bank accounts within 72 hours.
As part of his whirlwind tour in Thipparthy mandal, the Minister inaugurated several development works on Friday, including IKP paddy procurement centres at Ramalingalagudem, Anthayyagudem, Thipparthy market yard, and Mamidala, a new Gram Panchayat building at Kankanallapally, and a new ration shop at Marrigudem where he distributed fine rice to beneficiaries. He also flagged off lorries transporting paddy from the Thipparthy centre.
Addressing farmers, Komatireddy said, “The government’s aim is to see happiness in the eyes of farmers. ₹25,000 crore has been earmarked by the Cabinet this Kharif season to ensure timely payments. If any farmer faces delays beyond 72 hours, they can contact me directly.”
He noted that Nalgonda ranks second in the State in paddy production and advised farmers to focus more on cultivating fine variety paddy, which is being promoted for both nutritional and economic reasons. “Just like the affluent prefer fine rice, our government wants every poor household to have access to the same quality through ration cards,” he said, highlighting the government’s welfare intent.
Komatireddy further revealed that under the R&B Department, roads worth ₹6,600 crore have already been sanctioned, and the Cabinet has approved ₹10,500 crore under the HAM model to develop 5,500 km of high-quality roads across Telangana.
“By January, we will invite tenders to ensure double roads connecting mandal to district headquarters and single-lane roads linking villages to mandal centres. Strong road connectivity will empower farmers to transport their produce easily,” he explained.
The Minister also pointed out that the government has issued 7 lakh new ration cards and is constructing 4 lakh Indiramma houses. “The previous government could not issue even a single ration card in ten years,” he said.
Later, while flagging off the paddy transport lorries, he directed officials and transporters to ensure seamless movement of paddy without any logistical hurdles and maintain quality standards during transportation. (Pressmediaofindia.com)
