Hyderabad’Feb 22’2023-The metropolis is expanding rapidly day by day. Traffic congestion is increasing significantly not only in the core city but also in the suburbs. In particular, HMDA has focused on providing a better road network on both sides for easy access to the Outer Ring Road. It is against this backdrop that on the way from Miyapur to Bachupalli to Dundigal, roads are being widened from Bachupalli Chowrasta to Mallampeta and Bourampeta and two new ramps are being constructed on the ORR. These works are currently in progress. There is an interchange at Sultanpally on the outer ring road between Patancheruvu-Dundigal. Those living around Mallampeta have to go to Sultanpally or Patancheru to board the ORR. As it moves away, climb over the ORR at Mallampeta. Construction of ramps to get down started. Currently these works are going on in full swing. The 22nd interchange is being constructed at a cost of Rs.31.80 crores.
HMDA’s focus on infrastructure development
Suburbs are expanding beyond the ORR after the formation of the state. Especially in the IT corridor towards the west of the city, new residences are coming up in the adjacent areas of Patancheru, Isnapur, Sultanpally, Mallampeta and Bachupally, in the context of the expansion of the city beyond the ORR to Mokila and Shankarpally. Accordingly, the government has taken steps to provide infrastructure in the suburbs. For this purpose, HMDA is constructing new interchanges on ORR where necessary. At present three new interchanges are being constructed on the ORR, one of which is at Mallampeta. According to the traffic congestion around Mallampeta, ORR is constructing two ramps for boarding and alighting. Apart from this, the main road from there to Bachupalli and Nizampet areas is also being widened for 6 km from Bachupalli square to Bourampet.
Increasing traffic congestion on ORR
There are currently 19 interchanges on the 158 km ORR around Greater. Due to the rapid development on both sides of the ORR, the traffic congestion from nearby areas is increasing. 2 new interchanges are being constructed in Kokapeta and Narsingi areas in view of the increased traffic in Gachibowli, Nanakranguda, Narsingi, Kokapeta, Kollur and Vatti Nagulapalli areas of the IT Corridor. Also, two ramps are being constructed on the ORR at Mallampeta in view of the congestion in the areas between Patancheru – Medchal National Highways. HMDA engineering officials said that the works of this construction will be completed soon and made available.
