Hyderabad, Nov 9 (PMI): In compliance with the Supreme Court’s directive to remove stray dogs from public spaces, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has begun a special operation to catch stray dogs across hospital premises in the city.
On the first day of the drive, officials captured 277 stray dogs, which were later sent for sterilisation and medical care. The GHMC stated that after sterilisation, the dogs would be shifted to GHMC-run Animal Care Centres, where they would undergo surgery, receive vaccinations, and be kept under continuous veterinary supervision.
A GHMC spokesperson said the initiative currently focuses on government and private hospitals, with plans to expand the drive to schools, colleges, transport hubs, and other public areas in the coming days.
The civic body emphasized that the drive aims to ensure both public safety and animal welfare, maintaining a humane approach in line with legal and health guidelines. (pressmediaofindia.com)
