HyderabadFeb 17 (PMI) The Prohibition and Excise Department’s special team on Monday arrested a vendor for allegedly selling ganja-infused chocolates blended into milkshakes from a pushcart in the city.
The accused, B. Vikas Sharma, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was staying in a rented accommodation in Uppuguda in the Old City. Officials said he procured ganja-laced chocolates from sources in his home state.
According to excise authorities, Sharma moved around selling the drug-infused milkshake to customers at Jummerath Bazaar and Dhoolpet. He charged ₹150 per glass and had reportedly gained popularity among ganja users.
Sleuths seized 1,920 ganja chocolates from his possession. A case has been registered against him at the Charminar Excise Station.
Viral Video of ‘Ganja Prasadam’ Draws Police Attention
In a separate incident, a viral social media video showing two men allegedly offering “ganja prasadam” outside a Shiva temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri has come under scrutiny.
The video was recorded near a temple in Shamshabad on Sunday. The duo is heard claiming they had come to offer “prasadam” to Lord Shiva.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has taken note of the video, and authorities are verifying the footage for further action. (pressmediaofindia.com)
