Ganesh Immersion Route Inspected by Top Hyderabad Officials

25,000 idols expected to be immersed in Hussainsagar; 29,000 police personnel to be deployed for smooth conduct of processions

Hyderabad, (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI): With the grand Ganesh immersion drawing near, senior police and civic officials carried out an extensive inspection of the main procession route from Balapur to Hussainsagar on Wednesday to review security, traffic, and civic arrangements.

The inspection team comprised Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, Hyderabad District Collector Harichandana Dasari, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, and heads of several key departments. The joint exercise was aimed at ensuring inter-departmental coordination for the safe and orderly conduct of the city’s largest annual religious procession.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, Commissioner Anand highlighted the scale of preparations and appealed to Ganesh idol organisers to adhere to safety protocols. He particularly stressed the need for caution in view of the recent electrocution-related deaths reported during smaller immersions across the city.

“On the final day of immersion, nearly 25,000 idols are expected to be brought to Hussainsagar. To manage the massive turnout, around 29,000 police personnel will be on bandobast duty. Adequate cranes and other equipment have been strategically placed along the lakeside to facilitate safe and smooth immersion of idols,” Anand said.

Officials reviewed crucial arrangements such as traffic diversion plans, illumination along the route, barricading, sanitation measures, drinking water facilities, and emergency medical support. Civic bodies, including the GHMC, Water Board, and electricity department, were instructed to work in close coordination with the police to avoid lapses.

The Ganesh immersion procession, which begins with the ceremonial departure of the Balapur Ganesh idol, is expected to attract lakhs of devotees who will accompany idols of various sizes to immersion points across the city. Hussainsagar remains the focal point, though several alternative lakes and ponds have also been readied to ease the load.

Authorities also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement, follow traffic advisories, and avoid unsafe practices such as traveling on idle trucks or carrying high-mast idols through congested lanes with overhead electric wires.

The officials assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that this year’s immersion is conducted in a safe, peaceful, and orderly manner.(pressmediaofindia.com)
