HyderabadMay 3 ‘(PMI): ‘State Education Minister Sabita Indrareddy has announced that free work books and notebooks will be provided to students studying in government schools in the state. She said that the government has decided to provide free work books to students studying in primary schools and note books to students in high schools. The Minister stated that this is a great decision taken by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao for the development of the education sector in the state.
Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy conducted a review on the performance of the Education Department at her office in the Secretariat today. Speaking on the occasion, she said that 24 lakh students of the state will benefit from the decision of free books taken by the government. The officials were directed to take measures to provide the work books and notebooks by the time the school starts. Similarly, it has been directed to provide bilingual textbooks to all the students in the state by the time the school resumes.
The minister said that Rs.132 crores were spent on the distribution of textbooks last year, and Rs.200 crores were spent for the coming academic year to provide textbooks to the students free of cost. The Minister ordered to take steps to provide two pairs of uniforms to all the students of the government schools with around Rs.150 crores by the time the school reopens. As the school is re-opening from June 12, the minister suggested that a school program should be organized and the local legislators and public representatives should participate in it.
The minister advised the officers to take up the distribution of note books, textbooks and uniforms under the auspices of the local legislators and public representatives.
Legislators and local public representatives should also invite parents of students while attending schools. The minister directed to create a festive atmosphere in schools on the day of resumption of school. It has been suggested that the works undertaken under the Mana Uru-Manabadi program should be completed by the first week of June. Education Secretary Vakati Karuna, Director of School Education, Mr. Devasena and others participated in the meeting.(PMI)
