Hyderabad, Dec.21 (PMI): The main Opposition Congress party on Friday suffered a rude jolt at the hands of the ruling TRS party. Chairman of Telangana State Legislative Council has approved the request of four rebel MLCs of the Congress party to merge it into the ruling TRS party.
The names of these MLCs, who have called on the chairman are Akula Lalitha, Santosh Kumar, MS Prabhakar and K. Damodar Reddy. They also met with the whip of TRS party Palla Rajeswar Reddy and submitted another representation to him. Hours after this meeting, TPCC chief N.Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with CLP leader in the Council Shabbir Ali met with the Council Chairman and urged him to not consider the letter submitted by their rebel MLCs. However, it did not have any impact on the chairman as he seemed to have followed the earlier precedents while approving the letter submitted by the rebel Congress MLCs.
Earlier, the four MLCs said in the letter that a meeting of Congress Legislature Party in the Council was held on December 20 and its merger with that of TRS in the Council was discussed. They said they have the required strength for merger into Telangana Rashtra Samithi Legislature Party under para 4 of Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. (PMI)
