Hyderabad, May 25 (Shoukat-PMI) A man impersonating a Forest Department Beat Officer has been apprehended by the Commissioner’s Task Force (West Zone) in coordination with Musheerabad Police for duping several individuals by promising them government jobs.
The accused, identified as Konakanchi Kiran Kumar (30), a resident of Yousufguda in Hyderabad and native of Siripuram village, Khammam district, posed as a Forest Beat Officer and, at times, a police constable. According to officials, he used this fake identity to extort money from unsuspecting youth on the pretext of securing jobs in government departments.
During the operation, police seized multiple incriminating items, including a fake Forest Officer ID card, police-style khaki uniform, a Hero Glamour motorcycle with a police siren and fake number plate (TS09EX2034), three nameplates, and official-looking insignia of the Telangana Forest Department. Officials also recovered ₹5.45 lakh in cash, two mobile phones, and several original documents belonging to one victim, including educational certificates and a PAN card.
Investigators revealed that Kiran Kumar patrolled public areas in uniform, misleading the public with a false show of authority. He is said to have collected approximately ₹20 lakh from at least five victims, including individuals identified as J. Subash, Kumar, and Ashiwini. He also took possession of Subash’s original documents by falsely posing as a police officer.
Police say the accused has a history of fraud and impersonation and is involved in at least eight previous criminal cases registered across different police stations in Telangana, including Khammam, Suryapet, Sangareddy, and Hyderabad. The charges range from cheating (Section 420 IPC) to impersonation, criminal breach of trust, and use of forged documents.
The accused and the seized materials have been handed over to the Usheerabad Police Station for further legal action.
The operation was led by Inspector Ch. Yadendar of the West Zone Task Force, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police YVS Sudheendra, with support from SI G. Naveen and other task force personnel.(pressmediaofindia.com)
