Fake Collector Case: Woman Impersonating IAS Officer Arrested in Kamareddy

Hyderabad,/Kama Reddy Nov 8 (PMI): In a shocking incident, police in Kamareddy district arrested a woman who posed as an IAS officer and falsely claimed to be the district collector. The accused, identified as Israth Jahan from Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, was booked on charges of cheating and forgery.

According to officials, the Kamareddy District Collector, Ashish Sangwan, has been on leave since November 2. On November 4, Israth Jahan arrived at the collectorate with her family, introducing herself as an IAS officer working as the Commissioner in the Survey, Settlement, and Land Records Department. She further claimed that she had been appointed as the temporary Kamareddy District Collector and even presented fake government orders to support her claim.

Officials grew suspicious of the documents and sent them to Additional Collector Madhumohan for verification. While they asked her to wait in the office, she quietly slipped away. Alerted by her suspicious behavior, authorities informed the police, who tracked her down through CCTV footage and detained her near Toopran.

During interrogation, Israth Jahan reportedly confessed that she had been preparing for Group exams since 2020 and faked her appointment to convince her family that she had secured a government job.

Police have registered cases of cheating and forgery against her and have launched further investigation into the incident. (pressmediaofindia.com)
