Hyderabad, December 18 (PMI) Five-day celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Moula-e-Kainat Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) are being observed across Hyderabad with deep devotion and reverence. During these celebrations, adequate arrangements are made for the main festivities and the procession of Shahrah Mubarak under the guidance of AIMIM President and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi, who is known for his profound devotion to the Ahl-e-Bait. On his directions, local MLAs ensure that appeals made by devotees are addressed promptly. Effective coordination is seen with departments such as water supply, electricity, municipal services and the police, with special attention to illumination and cleanliness of routes.

It has been observed that most of the celebrations related to the birth anniversary of the Moulood-e-Kaaba are held in the Charminar Assembly constituency. Last year, MLA Zulfiqar Sahib extended full cooperation, while his performance during the recent Muharram arrangements was also appreciated. MLA Jaffer and Kausar Mohiuddin too played a responsible role in managing religious events.
It may be noted that during the month of Rajab, an age-old celebration of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali (AS) is held on the night of the birth anniversary at Gahwara Ali Asghar, Khait Balasthi, along with a traditional fair (mela). This historic celebration is said to have been founded by the late Shahi Sozkhwan Abid Hussain. The fair, which has been held for decades, is considered one of the oldest in the Old City.
However, this year the annual traditional mela has come under the spotlight following complaints of illegal collection of money from small traders. Vendors allege that those running stalls and pushcarts on government roads and footpaths are being subjected to extortion.

According to unverified reports, some miscreants are allegedly using the names of local political leaders to collect money from innocent traders in the name of “protection.” Small shops are reportedly being charged Rs 200 per day, while larger stalls and swing operators are asked to pay Rs 500 per day.
A social activist stated that some criminal elements are involved in these activities, though they do not enjoy any political patronage, and are exploiting poor traders.
Local residents have also expressed concern over complaints of harassment of women and girls visiting the fair for shopping and recreation. They warned that failure to curb such incidents could disturb law and order and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere.
The local public has appealed to AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and Charminar MLA to personally intervene and ensure the deployment of SHE Teams, along with Task Force and crime teams, during the 12–12 day fair. They have also urged strict vigilance against pickpockets and drug users, and requested that the matter be brought to the notice of the DCP, South Zone, for immediate action to ensure a safe and fear-free environment for traders and visitors alike.
