Hyderabad, Telangana Finance Minister E Rajender and Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy today urged the Centre to ensure that banks in the state have sufficient cash. They called on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Delhi and submitted a memorandum urging to put adequate funds in the banks which are facing shortage of cash. Rajender is to attend a GST Council meeting inDelhi on Jan 18. Speaking to reporters later, they said that the Centre was urged to provide adequate cash in the banks in Telangana state for disbursing crop investment. This will enable Telangana Government to distribute cheques worth Rs 6000 cr by giving Rs 4000 per acre for crop investment in May they said.They said that the Centre should reduce GST burden on sprinkler irrigation. The meeting assumes significance as the bankers informed to the state government about the shortage of cash and will not cater to the needs of crop investment scheme. As the State is keen on welfare, irrigation projects, development programs the Centre should cooperate by timely release of funds they said.
