DOME OF ROCK AT AL-AQSA MOSQUE/ MACCA: Muslims around the world are celebrating the festival of Eid al Fitr, commonly known as Eid, to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Eid al Fitr means “festival of the breaking of the fast” is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, a month when many adult Muslims fast.

Muslims across several parts of the world celebrated Eid al Fitr on 21 April with zeal and fervour, marking an end to the month-long holy month of Ramadan when believers fast from dawn to dusk.

The timing of Eid al Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal, in accordance with the Muslim lunar calendar.

The holiday is normally celebrated with family gatherings.

Thousands of Muslims have celebrated Eid al Fitr in Saudi Arabia, Palestine, United Arab Emirates (UAE), some parts of Australia, America, Africa, Asia and Europe yesterday while the majority of Muslims are celebrating Eid al Fitr today in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore and dozens of countries across the globe.
