Hyderabad, July 10(PMI): The State government on Wednesday appointed Dr. Jitender, a 1992 batch IPS officer, as the Director General of Police, (Coordination).
He will also hold the post of Director General of Police (FAC) Head of Police Force – HoPF.
The present DGP Ravi Gupta is transferred and posted as Special Chief Secretary to Government, Home department.
Born in a simple farmer family at Jalandhar in Punjab, Jitender is a 1992 batch IPS officer. He was selected for the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Jitender has served as ASP at various places in the combined Andhra Pradesh.
He served as SP of Mahbubnagar and Guntur districts where Naxal influence was high. Later, Jitender had worked with CBI in New Delhi for some time. He was in- charge of the Greyhounds between 2004-06. He served as DIG Visakhapatnam Range and DIG of Warangal Range during the Telangana movement.
Jitender also served CID, Inquiry Commission, Vigilance and Enforcement wings. He worked as Additional Traffic Commissioner in Hyderabad Commissionerate and Additional DGP of Telangana Law and Order department and DG of Prisons department. Before assuming the post of DGP, he has worked as the Chief Secretary of Home department.
Dr. Jitender will retire in September, 2025. With the latest appointment, he will continue as DGP for 14 months.(PMI
