Hyderabad, Sept.30 (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI): DGP Jitender’s retirement ceremony was held at the Telangana Police Academy on Tuesday with great pomp.
During the event, Jitender discussed the measures implemented to combat cybercrime and drug-related issues within the state. He noted that the police department has successfully filled vacant positions and mentioned that several challenges have been addressed from a humanitarian standpoint. He emphasised the department’s commitment to supporting victims.
Reflecting on his 33 years of service in law enforcement, Jitender expressed his appreciation for the experiences he gained with the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police. “Upon my transfer from Punjab to Andhra Pradesh, the encouragement and support provided by senior officers here were incredibly motivational. We now regard the Telangana Police as our home,” he stated.
He expressed his gratitude to the Telangana government for the opportunity to serve as DGP, noting that in the past 15 months, he has managed to stabilise law and order and implemented several measures to lower the crime rate throughout the state.
Jitender mentioned that the Telangana police have gained significant national recognition. “We are actively combating narcotics and cybercrime. Our thorough investigations into the betting mafia have led to numerous searches across the country and the arrest of those involved,” he stated.
As highlighted in the India Justice Report, Telangana ranks first in this regard. “Technology plays a vital role in crime-solving,” Jitender added.
Shivdhar Reddy, the new DGP of Telangana, congratulated Jitender for his contributions to the Telangana police department over the past 14 months.
He remembered collaborating in the Guntur district and mentioned that Jitender’s ideology aligns perfectly with his own. Shivdhar Reddy expressed his desire for Jitender’s administrative effectiveness to serve as a model for their efforts. Shivdhar Reddy will take charge as the Telangana DGP on Wednesday.(PMI)
