DGP Dr. Jitender’s Tenure Marked by Reforms, Recognition, and Citizen-Centric Policing

Hyderabad, Sept. 30(Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI) Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Jitender has successfully completed about 15 months in office, during which he introduced several reforms, strengthened law and order, and secured national recognition for the state police. He took charge on July 10, 2024, after serving in key roles including ADGP (Law & Order), Principal Secretary (Home), SP of Mahabubnagar and Guntur, and head of Greyhounds, earning a Gallantry Award for excellence.

During his tenure, Telangana Police implemented people-centric initiatives such as the E-Challan and ITMS projects, cashless junctions, and a QR-code-based citizen feedback system at police stations. He also launched training programs for SHOs to improve citizen engagement and established the Young India Police School for children of police families.

On the law-and-order front, Dr. Jitender ensured peace during major festivals, checked Maoist activity along state borders, and adopted an organized crime-control approach against drug trafficking and property offences. Under his leadership, cybercrime awareness was expanded, leading to recovery of crores lost to online fraud.

Telangana Police also achieved a No.1 ranking in the India Justice Report 2025, reflecting improved efficiency and accountability. Other notable initiatives included the launch of Tourism Police, disaster response through SDRF, and promotion of technology-driven policing in collaboration with premier institutions like NALSAR, ISB, and IIIT-Hyderabad.

In sports, the Telangana Police contingent topped the All India Police Duty Meet, bagging 17 medals. Officers credited Dr. Jitender for boosting morale by accelerating promotions and motivating personnel through recognition and welfare measures.
