UNITED NATIONS/ GAZA STRIP: Only about 100 aid trucks are entering the war-ravaged Gaza Strip daily, a figure “wholly insufficient” for the desperate population with NGOs effectively “blocked” by Israel from distribution efforts, an aid group says.
Media has viewed a copy of the UN Security Council draft resolution circulated by the US with more details on the “Board of Peace” and the establishment of an international stabilization force for Gaza envisioned in the ceasefire.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, Hamas has released 20 Israeli captives alive and handed over the remains of 22 of 28 killed in Gaza.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 68,875 Palestinians and wounded 170,679 since October 2023. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks and about 200 taken captive.

Israel’s Ben-Gvir lauds ‘military zone’ designation on Egyptian border
Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has praised the military’s move to designate the Egyptian border area a closed military zone, citing arms smuggling concerns.
“I commend my friend, Defence Minister Israel Katz, for the important decision to declare the Egyptian border a closed military zone, out of an understanding that the smuggling taking place there serves terrorist purposes,” said Ben-Gvir in a post on social media.
“Minister Katz represents a determined security approach, one that breaks free from outdated conceptions and looks at reality with clear eyes.”
The policy change follows a move by military chief of staff Eyal Zamir to create a special unit to curb alleged weapons-smuggling drones from Egypt.
In a statement, Katz warned Israel’s rules of engagement near the border “will be changed accordingly”, and “anyone who breaches the forbidden area will be struck.”
Israel’s military claims new attack on Hezbollah members in Lebanon’s Tyre area
Israel’s military says it has carried out an air raid in southern Lebanon’s Tyre area, targeting members of Hezbollah’s construction unit, which it accuses of trying to rebuild military infrastructure.
Israeli forces will “continue to operate in order to remove any threat to the territory of the state of Israel”, said the army in a statement.
The announcement comes shortly after Lebanon’s National News Agency reported an Israeli air raid near the southern towns of Toura and Aabbasiyyeh, both in the Tyre district. It did not list any casualties from the attack.

“Joshua’s return offers some comfort to a family that has endured unbearable uncertainty for over two years,” the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement.
