Sajjanar said that service providers must immediately alert the police upon identifying suspicious parcels, and any entity found facilitating anti-social activities, even due to negligence, will face strict legal action.
Hyderabad Jan 28 (Shoukat-PMI) Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar on Wednesday warned against the misuse of e-commerce platforms, courier services, and delivery networks for transporting marijuana and other banned substances, stating that facilitators and enablers would face strict legal action.
Chairing a high-level coordination meeting at the Old Commissioner’s Office in Basheerbagh, Sajjanar interacted with representatives of telecom companies, internet service providers, food delivery apps, courier firms, and transport aggregators. He directed all service providers to set up dedicated internal teams to promptly respond to police queries and share critical information.
The Police Commissioner stressed the need for stringent surveillance mechanisms to detect and prevent illegal activities. He said companies must immediately alert the police on identifying suspicious parcels, adding that even negligence leading to anti-social activities would attract legal consequences.
Taking serious note of complaints related to harassment of women passengers, Sajjanar instructed transport aggregators to maintain constant supervision over their drivers to prevent such incidents.
He also directed aggregators to initiate disciplinary action against cab and bike taxi drivers who cancel rides after learning the destination, causing inconvenience to commuters. (pressmediaofindia.com)
