Cyberabad Police Rescue Three, Arrest Eight in Week-Long Women and Child Safety Drive

Hyderabad-4 Jan 2025 (PMI) Cyberabad Police conducted a week-long special drive focusing on women and child safety, resulting in the rescue of three victims, multiple arrests, family reunions, and extensive public awareness programmes across the commissionerate.

During the drive, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) carried out night raids at several locations, rescuing three victims and arresting eight accused in three cases registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (PITA). Six transgender people were also apprehended during the operations, police said.

Cyberabad SHE Teams intensified safety checks by conducting 147 decoy operations in public places. As a result, 45 persons were caught red-handed for indecent acts, 52 petty cases were registered, and several offenders were counselled. The teams also received 26 complaints from women through various reporting channels.

As part of family welfare initiatives, police facilitated the reunion of 22 families involved in marital disputes through Family Counselling Centres and CDEW Centres, helping resolve issues amicably.

In addition, AHTU and SHE Teams organised awareness programmes attended by 3,101 participants. The sessions covered issues such as human and child trafficking, eve-teasing, cyberbullying, cyber frauds, child marriage, child labour, and child rights. Emergency helpline numbers, including 181, 1098, 100, and 1930, were also publicised.

Police said similar special drives would continue to enhance safety and awareness for women and children in the Cyberabad region. (pressmediaofindia,com)
