Hyderabad, Oct. 27 (PMI): The Cyberabad Police have arrested four individuals for allegedly deceiving people through a fake ritual called the cash Barish Pooja, claiming it could multiply their money through spiritual means.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Mohammad Irfan (44), Gugoloth Ravindhar (40), Kavira Sai Baba (41), and Thakur Manohar Singh (39). The arrests took place at Gandimaisamma on October 26, 2025. A fifth accused, Abdul Kayyoom, remains at large. According to DCP N. Koti Reddy, the gang persuaded victims to participate in the so-called “Barish Pooja,” during which they were asked to leave their cash as part of the ritual. After the ceremony, the accused offered the victims sweets and milk laced with intoxicants, causing them to lose consciousness. The gang then fled with the victims’ money.
Police recovered ₹8.5 lakh in cash, a country-made firearm, and a knife from the main accused, Mohammad Irfan. Based on the recovery, the police have also booked the accused under relevant sections of the Arms Act.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of ACP Ch. Shankar Reddy (Medchal Division) and DCP N. Koti Reddy (Medchal Zone), with support from officers of the Dundigal and Medchal police stations. (PMI)
