Hyderabad Feb 27 (PMI): Commissioner of Police Sri V C Sajjanar a meeting organized today with the Nodal Officer from Google Smt. Gitanjali and Smt Rohini Priyadarshini, DCP Crimes, Smt Dara Kavitha, Addl DCP Crimes and staff of Cyber Crime Police Station, from Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerate in the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad for number of cyber frauds are taking place in the various Google based services such as fake customer care frauds through Google search platform, frauds happening through Google View Form, Google Pay, Google Ad services etc, .
In the meeting, discussions were held about the cyber frauds happening through Google services, issues faced by the investigating Officers, vulnerabilities in the Google service which are exploited by the cyber criminals and the remedial measures taken by the Google so far and steps to be taken by the Google to rescue these cyber frauds in order to avoid the cheating of the innocent citizens by the cyber criminals.
Details of the Frauds done by fraudsters:
- Posting of fake websites and mobile number in Google:
The Cyber fraudsters are posting fake websites and their mobile numbers in the name of reputed e-commerce portals, food product portals, travel portals, banking portals, e-wallets, payment gateways, courier services etc., and trapping innocent citizens whoever are in need of genuine customer care services for their various needs and they are victimized in the hands of cyber fraudsters and losing their hard earned money in a big way.
- Using of Google View form links by cyber fraudsters:
The Cyber fraudsters are sending fake Google view form links to the citizens, asking them to fill sensitive information like UPI Pin, UPI Id, Internet banking username and Password in the guise of giving services to them and defrauding them.
The Nodal Officer from the Google noted down the suggestions and vulnerabilities in various services in Google and also promised to take preventive steps technically in not allowing the Google platforms to be used by the Cyber fraudsters. In view of the above the citizens are requested to follow the following precautions while doing search in Google for customer care services to avoid cyber frauds.
The general public are hereby advice.
(i) Visit original website of concerned e-commerce / e-Wallets / Travel Booking etc., websites for customer care services or numbers instead of searching in Google platform. (ii) Don’t furnish bank / card details like Bank name, UPI PIN, UPI Id, Internet Username and Internet Password etc., in Google view form link sent by the fraudsters. (Press Media of India)
