Hyderabad, Sept. 21 (PMI): Ramagundam Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha, IPS, has stressed that the crime rate will decrease only when criminals are punished and justice is ensured for victims. He called for increasing conviction rates and urged court constables to discharge their duties with sincerity.
Speaking at a review meeting with court duty officers from Peddapalli and Mancherial zones at the Commissionerate office, the CP emphasized the importance of presenting witnesses, speedy execution of warrants and summons, and following the advice of public prosecutors to ensure smooth trials. He said strict action must be taken to punish offenders and curb illegal activities.
The Commissioner cited the Bhimaram POCSO case of April 26, 2022, involving a dumb and deaf minor girl, in which translator Sri K. Yosepu played a vital role by interpreting the victim’s gestures in court. Based on the testimony, the court sentenced the accused to 20 years in jail, imposed a fine of ₹12,500, and awarded ₹7 lakh compensation to the victim. CP Jha felicitated Yosepu for his crucial contribution in securing justice.
