Hyderabad, Dec.22 (Shoukat-PMI): Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu said that the crime has increased within the commissionerate limits this year, while highlighting a great improvement in case detection and convictions.
Releasing the Rachakonda 2025 Crime Annual report, the CP said 33,040 cases were registered in 2025, compared to 28,626 cases last year.
The crime data includes 3 robberies, 67 thefts, 589 house burglaries, 876 vehicle thefts, 1,161 general thefts, 73 murders, 330 rape cases, 12 dowry deaths and 782 domestic violence cases. He added that kidnapping and POCSO cases had increased, with 579 kidnapping cases and 1,224 POCSO cases registered this year. Three cases of murder for gain were also reported.
Despite the rise in crime, CP Sudheer Babu asserted that the police have solved 21,056 cases (78%) during the year. In 12 cases, courts awarded 20-year prison sentences, while in a major murder case under the Addagudur police station, 17 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment.
On cybercrime, the CP said 3,734 cases were registered, 6,188 cybercriminals arrested, and Rs. 40.10 crore refunded to victims.
As for drug trafficking, the police arrested 495 persons involved in drug trafficking and seized narcotics worth Rs.20 crore, including 2090 kg of ganja, 35 kg ganja chocolates, 34 kg hash oil, MDMA, heroin, OPM, and poppy seeds. A total of 227 NDPS suspect sheets were opened.
Under the Excise Act, 656 cases were registered, and 6,824 litres of liquor were seized. In Gaming Act cases, 227 cases were booked, 1,472 persons arrested, and property worth Rs 69 lakh seized.
The CP also said 73 human trafficking cases were registered and eight establishments identified. This year, 146 persons were convicted in 5,647 cases, marking a 74% increase in convictions compared to last year.
