Hyderabad, Dec.23 (Shoukat-PMI): Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty today said cyber crime cases had increased in the Cyberabad commissionerate limits. He also said the total number of cases had increased this year as compared to the previous one.
Speaking to the media on the occasion of the release of the annual crime report of his commissionerate, CP Avinash Mahanti said, “As against 4,850 cases last year, 5,342 cases have been reported so far. There has been a cash fraud of Rs 232 crore this year. This year, 567 people have been arrested in 277 drugs cases. We have also registered two PD Act cases this year. Drugs worth Rs 27.82 crore have been seized,” he added.
Mohanty said financial and real estate crimes had also increased in Cyberabad limits. He made it clear that crimes against women had come down this year. “As against 2,489 cases last year, 2,356 cases have been reported so far. Rape cases have also come down,” he said, adding in the year 2022, 6,276 cases of fraud were registered. This year 6,777 cases had been registered. He said “Road accidents have also increased. In 2022, 93 cases were registered and now there are 105 cases. This year, 52,124 cases of drunken driving have been registered.” he said.
The CP said they would provide the details of the purchase of MLAs case allegedly by BJP leaders and added that the investigation into the purchase of MLAs was continuing. Details will be provided soon, he said, adding that they were investigating a murder conspiracy case, in which it was allegedly plotted to kill the former minister Srinivas Goud. Mohanty made it clear that there would not be no postings to any police officer on the basis of the recommendation letters and added that every officer would be monitored by them.
Commenting on the New Year’s celebrations, Mohanty suggested that permission should be obtained for the conduct of the new year celebrations. He warned that strict action would be taken if new year celebrations were held without permission. He also made it clear that legal action would be taken if drunken driving was held by anybody during the celebrations. (PMI)
