Hyderabad, April 23: Balanagar SWOT and Bachupally police jointly raided a base where cricket betting was conducted through online apps. Along with the three accused, Rs.22.50 lakh and goods worth Rs.50 thousand were seized. Kukatpally ACP Chandrasekhar disclosed the details in a press conference organized at Bachupally Police Station on Saturday. Navadu Ganesh Kumar (35) from Yanamala Kaduru (Vijayawada) in AP is an IT employee. Initially he was in Bhadrachalam. Later he shifted his place to Nizampet Municipal Corporation, Pragatinagar. Borapareddy Srinivas Rao (33) from Gudivada in Krishna district is doing private job and resides in KSR Classic Apartment in Pragathinagar.
In this background, the Balanagar SWOT police received reliable information that betting was taking place on the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai teams on Friday night. So they raided the flat in collaboration with the Bachupally police. Three bookies were caught in police raids. Among them, Ganesh Kumar is an administrator, Srinivasa Rao is an accountant and Rambabu is a computer operator. Rs.22 lakhs 50 thousand 380 cash and Rs.2 lakhs 20 thousand deposited in the bank account were seized from them. Also, two laptops used for betting, other equipment, mobile phones and a two-wheeler were seized and seized. Later, the accused were arrested and sent to remand. Police said that three other major bookies are absconding.
