Hyderabad, June 13 (PMI): The State CPI today held a massive Chalo collectorate rally in Hanmakonda district demanding that the State government distribute its lands to the homeless poor people in the district.
CPI national secretary Dr K. Narayana and other party leaders took part in the rally. Thousands of poor people, who are living in the huts erected on the government lands, took part in the rally. They initially held a massive dharna in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayana asked the State government whether it was for the homeless poor people in the State or for the land mafia. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not fulfil his promise of building double bed room houses to the homeless families in the State.
Recalling the visit of the colonies of the poor people of Hanmakonda by K Chandrashekar Rao eight years back, he said the promise of the Chief Minister to build double bedroom houses was not fulfilled even after such a long period. He made it clear that their party was holding the protest in order to allow the poor people to live with self respect. He made it clear that they would stand by the poor people by drawing inspiration from Chakali Ailamma if the State government stood by the land sharks.
He said they were even ready to take arms if it required to do justice to the poor people and added that they would go to jails for the poor people. He made it clear that they would not stop their fight until justice was done to the homeless poor people. The police stopped the CPI leaders when the rally reached the Kaloji centre. The left party leaders entered into argument with the police on the occasion.
Later, party leaders Dr K. Narayana and Takkallapally Srinivas were allowed by the police to meet Warangal and Hanmakonda district Collectors and submit the representations. The two leaders met the two district Collectors and submitted their representations. (PNI)
