Hyderabad, June 14 (PMI): The Director of Public Health Dr. Srinivasa Rao today said that the number of Covid cases were gradually coming down in Telangana state. Speaking to media persons he said that the state which had 29770 active cases in the first week of lockdown, now has 8360 active cases. He said that the virus positivity rate had come down to 1.40 percent from 6.74 percent.
He also said that the percentage of Covid survivors had gone up to 96 percent from 90 percent in the state. Rao said that the percentage of the Covid patients who required beds in hospitals had come down to 16 percent from 52 percent in the first week of the lockdown. He said that as against 55442 available beds, only 8734 were occupied in the state now. Rao while commenting on the ongoing vaccination process said that the vaccination process was going on in the private sector of the state.
He said that they were giving vaccines to people from the high risk groups since May 25 of the last month and added that they had administered the vaccines to 16.75 lakh people so far from the high risk category. He said that they had handed over medical kits to 4 lakh people through their fever survey. (PMI)
