Hyderabad: A Nampally court on Thursday refused to allow the police to take Ghazal Srinivas into custody for questioning in the sexual harassment case.Internationally known Ghazal singer Srinivas was arrested after a woman complained of sexual harassment at his Aalayavani web radio office in Panjagutta area on Tuesday. He was sent to Chanchalguda jail on judicial remand the same day.
The police who already claimed to have sufficient evidence against Ghazal
Srinivas sought to take him into custody for further questioning. The court heard the arguments from both prosecution and the defense and pronounced its order late this afternoon stating that there is no need for the police to take him into custody again as the case was filed under section 354A which is non-bailable. A bail petition filed by the accused expired earlier and another petition is to be filed on Friday. Legal experts say he may get bail this time around.
