Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy district court at Miyapur on Thursday ordered TRS leader from Uppal Srinivas Reddy to allow his wife Sangeetha into his house and also pay Rs 20,000 per month towards her expenses.
It may be mentioned here that Sangeetha was reportedly driven out of the house by her husband Srinivas Reddy, his second wife and in-laws when she tried to enter the house after living with her parents for several months. Srinivas Reddy married another girl when Sangeetha was away.
With this, Sangeetha, along with her four-year-old daughter, had been sitting in front of her husband’s house in Boduppal for the past 54 days. While Srinivas Reddy and his parents were absconding, Sangeetha made the front yard of the house as her residence. As there was no action from police against her husband, she intensified her agitation by converting it into fast-unto-death a couple of days back.
After several efforts to strike a compromise between the couple failed, police moved the case in the court which issued an interim order directing the TRS leader to allow his wife and child into the house immediately and pay Rs 20,000 towards monthly maintenance. However, Srinivas Reddy filed a counter in the court contesting Sangeetha’s demand for maintenance amount. “When she is in my house and I am taking care of her needs, where is the need for maintenance?”, he stated in his counter.
Sangeetha said she would enter her husband’s house in the presence of all. She also demanded that her husband and in-laws should think about her daughter. Sangeetha said. She said she did not go on fast-unto-death for the sake of money but for her legitimate rights. She also said property was not important for her, but she wanted a place in her husband’s house. Stating that there was no response to her deeksha from her in-laws, Sangeetha said the issue will be solved if her husband and in-laws spoke to her.
When Sangeetha launched her fight against her husband and in-laws by observing dharna at her husband’s house with the support of Mahila sanghams, many leaders, irrespective of their political affiliations extended their moral support. Even retired judge Chandrakumar, former Union minister Sarve Sathyanarayana, Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy called on her and pledged to stand by her. She also refuted the allegation that she was demanding Rs 3-crore compensation from her husband. She made it clear that she was fighting for her legitimate right and justice and not for money.
