Hyderabad, July 14 (PMI):Corona, apparently a dead virus, is intelligent enough to reject our preconceived notions about it’s treatment. It has indeed taught us many lessons. Eminent Scientist Prof. Sher Ali, Former Director, Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences, JMI New Delhi, expressed these views while delivering online keynote address as the Chief Guest during the inaugural of 5th National Urdu Science Congress 2021 at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today. Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor I/c presided over.

Speaking on “Personalized Medicine : Hopes, Hypes and Challenges” through PowerPoint presentation, Prof. Sher Ali said that doctors generally look at patient’s history and prescribe medicines through investigations. The genetics, which plays an important role in the spread of diseases, is being ignored. Compared to previous research, the number of genes and proteins are modifying which helps doctors to understand and prescribe medicines for better treatment of the patient. Personalized medicine is a difficult thing to do, but it can help in curing the apparently incurable diseases, he said. Speaking about the topic of the congress he said that multi-disciplinary scientific approach and the usage of technology leads to very useful and productive results.
Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor I/c in his presidential remarks spoke briefly on Urdu, Science and the Congress. Urdu University is offering significant services for the development and promotion of Urdu during the last 20 years. MANUU is providing higher education and research in Urdu language. The connection between cause and effect is called science, he said. Science makes human prosperity possible. The Indian constitution also speaks about scientific temperament and new education policy also focuses exclusively on research and interdisciplinary education, he added. MANUU has brought out a special issue of ‘Al-Kalam’ (University Magazine) on NEP.
Prof. Parveen Jahan, Dean, SoS delivered welcome address and briefed about the aims and objectives of the Congress. Prof. Syed Najamul Hasan, Department of Mathematics and Convener of the Congress in his introductory remarks informed that 50 selected papers are being presented from across the country and even some scholars from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia are also presenting the paper in the Congress. Dr. Ira Khan, Assistant Professor (Botany) conducted the proceedings. Dr. Qasimullah, Assistant Professor (Chemistry) proposed vote of thanks. The two-day conference will have six technical sessions and the valedictory session will be organized on July 15 at 4.00 pm. The inaugural session was webcast live on IMC Youtube Channel. (PMI)
