Hyderabad:Jan29,2022– The Rachakonda Police conducted a meeting on drug menace and effective implementation of measures to eradicate it here on Saturday. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat explained to the officers the best drug control methods to be identified and implemented.
Topics like the collection of relevant evidence including technical and FSL reports, ensuring convictions by speedy trials, detention of offenders under the PD Act to prevent further offences were discussed. “Seeking community participation in drug control, organising awareness programmes and meetings with community elders, teachers and students are utmost important, apart from the preparation of documentaries and advertisements and movies too,” he said.
The Commissioner further requested the police personnel to treat drug control as a social responsibility rather than considering it as a job and ensure zero tolerance towards drugs.So far in this year and in 2021, the Rachakonda police booked 10 drug-related cases and seized 6,140 kgs of marijuana, 400 kgs of opium straw and 33 drugs traffickers were detained under the PD Act.
