Hyderabad, Criticizing Governor ESL Narsimhan for describing Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as “Kaleswaram Chandrasekhar Rao”, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Governor, who supposed to protect the Constitution, was making remarks lowering the status of his gubernatorial post.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday along with senior leaders V Hanumanth Rao and D Sridhar Babu, Bhatti said Governor Narasimhan had spoken forgetting his position as Governor about a particular party and the government. It was sad the Governor did not question the government for changing the name of the project, which was earlier named after Constitution maker Dr B R Ambedkar. He said the previous Congress government launched Ambedkar Pranahitha-Chevella project and spent Rs 10,000 crore out of Rs 38,500 crore estimated cost.
The TRS government rechristened Ambedkar Pranahitha-Chevella project into Kaleswaram project and doubled the project cost. Instead of questioning the government about enhancing the cost estimates, the Governor praised KCR “Kaleswaram Chandrasekhar Rao” and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao as Kaleswar Rao. “It will be no wonder if Narsimhan might rechristen Raj Bhavan into TRS Bhavan”, he ridiculed. He also demanded that the Governor review the irregularities in Seetharama project by summoning the officials concerned to Raj Bhavan. Otherwise, the Congress would meet the President in this regard, he added.
V Hanumanth Rao alleged that Rs 80,000 crore scam took place in the construction of projects in the State. He reminded that former chief ministers like Lalu Prasad Yadav landed in jail for committing irregularities. Situation may arise to lodge cases against the Governor also, he said. He said his party would lodge a complaint with the Prime Minister against the Governor.
Sridhar Babu said the State government was giving wrong information to the Governor. He said the Governor should have enquired whether compensation reached the farmers, who lost their lands under the projects.
