Congress is anti-farmers: Harish

Hyderabad :  Accusing the congress of becoming curse to the farmers,  Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today lashed out at the former for blaming the government.

Addressing a press conference at TRS Legislature Party office along with Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy and others, Harish took serious exception to the congress leaders turning  sadists only to oppose every welfare scheme of the government. It seems that the congress leaders  who are  away from  power for a few years,  are now  resorting to  false allegations against the government. The TRS Government is making all out efforts for development of every sector. The congress, he said, does not want development of the farmers and frequently obstructing the related works.  The Congress leaders  are trying to belittle the farmers by provoking them on the schemes of welfare, he said. Harish Rao also expressed serious displeasure that the congress is making deliberate attempts to stall the progress of the state.

‘We have kept up  the promise of waiving off Rs 17000 crore crop loan which is a major reprieve to the farming community, he said. Besides that the government now plans to implement another welfare scheme to get them rid of the loans and related problems. The congress could not even digest this scheme of giving Rs 8000 per acre  towards farm investment which will be of great help to the farmers. The congress neglected the agriculture and irrigation sectors and now coming in the way of the TRS Government  implementing the schemes. With peoples’ support every scheme will be implemented for the use of the farmers, poor and other weaker sections. Mission Kakatiya being appreciated and emulated by other states and  received world level appreciation. ‘We have completed pending projects left behind by the previous government’ he said adding that 16 lakh acres have been irrigated last year.  Mahabubnagar, Khammam, Adilabad, Warangal and other districts are able to get irrigation waters to increase agriculture production, he claimed.

The TRS government gets the credit of giving  24 hours power to the farmers. Priority is being offered to agriculture, irrigation, industries and others,  he said. Though the congress is trying to create obstacles to the development works, the people and farmers are aware of the congress programs of protest only to tarnish the image of the government
