Congress files police complaint against CM KCR for unfulfilled promises

Hyderabad, June 22 (PMI): The Congress party on Thursday lodged a police complaint against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar and other BRS leaders for not fulfilling the promises made by the ruling party in the last nine years.

The complaint, seeking registration of a cheating case, was lodged at the Banjara Hills Police Station by Congress MLA Danasari Seethakka and Khairtabad (Hyderabad Central) DCC President Dr C. Rohin Reddy. The Congress leaders enclosed the copies of TRS Manifestoes released in 2014 and 2018 along with pictures of the release of the manifestoes by the Chief Minister.

Speaking to media persons later, Congress MLA Seethakka strongly condemned CM KCR and BRS party for not fulfilling any of the promises it made to the people in the last two elections. She alleged that CM KCR first betrayed the people by not honouring the electoral promises and now he has been cheating in the name of the decennial celebrations of Telangana Formation. “By organising 21-day long celebrations using public money, KCR is creating an illusion as if his government has fulfilled all the promises he made with the people,” she said.

Seethakka said that the BRS Government was targetting the Congress leaders by placing them under illegal house arrest and implicating them in false cases for raising their voices. She said all top leaders of the Congress party across Telangana State have been placed under house arrest to foil the “Dashabdi Daga” protest by the Congress party and called them undemocratic and dictatorial. She said it should be KCR and BRS leaders who should be arrested for cheating the people and not the opposition Congress leaders.

Addressing the media, Khairtabad DCC President Dr Rohin Reddy said that a formal complaint has been lodged with the police seeking a cheating case against CM KCR and other BRS leaders. If the police fail to register an FIR, we will go to the court to seek justice. He said that the election manifesto should be treated like holy books like Bhagwat Gita, Quran and Bible. But KCR used a manifesto as a medium to cheat the common people by making lucrative promises and not fulfilling them later.

He said as per the call given by TPCCpresident A. Revanth Reddy, the Congress workers across the state wanted to observe ‘Dashabdi Daga’ and burnt the 10-head effigies of CM KCR in protest against his failures. However,  he said that the BRS Govt misused the police to suppress the Congress protest.

Meanwhile, Rohin Reddy, in the police complaint lodged with the police alleged that BRS has been continuously cheating and betraying the innocent people of Telangana State by consistently making false promises for nearly a decade.

“BRS President & Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao, along with other party leaders, has adopted a deceptive strategy aimed at luring the electorate with grand promises during general elections, only to abandon those commitments once elected into power. In their 32-page manifesto for the 2014 Assembly elections, released on April 4, 2014 by  Chandrashekhar Rao at Telangana Bhavan, the TRS party made a staggering 75 major promises. These promises, including Free KG to PG Education, 2BHK houses for the homeless, 12% reservation for Muslims and STs, and 3 acres of land for Dalits and STs, were incredibly appealing and convinced the trusting populace to vote in favour of the TRS party,” he said.

The Congress leader alleged that the TRS/BRS party has removed the manifesto from their official website, rendering the link inaccessible. Nevertheless, the manifesto can still be found on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana State. To add insult to injury, after assuming power, Chief Minister KCR and his associates failed to fulfill the promises they had made. To evade accountability, they prematurely called for early elections in 2018, instead of completing the full five-year term as expected, he said.

Rohin Reddy said that the same deceptive tactics were employed during the 2018 elections when the TRS (now BRS) party released a 16-page manifesto, unveiled by President and Chief Minister  Chandrashekhar Rao on December 2, 2018 at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, with 24 major promises aimed at misleading and deceiving the people of Telangana State.

“The inclusion of promises such as a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,016 is a prime example of the tactics employed to manipulate and deceive innocent citizens. Unfortunately, the people, swayed by these false assurances, fell victim to this political ploy and cast their votes in favour of the TRS party, granting them power for a second term. Yet, once again, hardly any of the promised initiatives were fulfilled, leading the party to rebrand itself as BRS in an attempt to create the illusion of a new entity,” he said.

The Congress leaders urged the police to register a case against CM KCR, along with any other individuals involved, under the relevant sections of the law, and take immediate and appropriate action to bring justice to the deceived people.(PMI)
