Congress Built Telangana’s Power Backbone: Bhatti Vikramarka

Khammam, June 18 (PMI): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka declared that the Congress party has been the driving force behind Telangana’s power sector, crediting it with completing all major electricity projects, including all seven phases of the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station.

Speaking at the launch of the 1912 Electricity Ambulance Service and a health camp for power department employees, Bhatti criticized the BRS government for failing to add new power capacity during its decade-long rule.

He noted that power demand rose from 15,000 MW in March 2023 to 17,162 MW by March 2025 under Congress, with uninterrupted supply maintained. Looking ahead, the state anticipates a demand of 33,773 MW by 2034-35 and has launched the New Green Energy Policy – 2025, targeting 20,000 MW of green energy production.

Bhatti also highlighted the government’s free electricity schemes for farmers and poor households, amounting to nearly ₹14,000 crore annually. He praised electricity workers for their dedication and assured enhanced safety measures, including a ₹1 crore accident insurance cover — the highest in the country.

The new 1912 service, modeled after the 108 ambulance service, aims to ensure rapid response to power issues across the state.(pressmediaofindia.com)
